Lesley will be combining the use of sine-wave oscillators with voice, and Christopher will be presenting new works for violin and percussion with a custom-built interactive live processing platform.
The Campbell Opera Librettist Prize is the first award of its kind in the history of American opera. Stephen Sondheim presented the inaugural Kleban Foundation Award, which recognizes outstanding theater writers. The prize recognizes Campbell’s experience in writing operas and his commitment to making opera central to his career. The prize also comes with a host of benefits, including introductions to the leading opera producers. If the librettist has been unsuccessful twice before, they will have to submit three new works to showcase their talent.
Ballet
The next season of the New York City Ballet (NYCB) will kick off in February 2022. The company’s season will include 48 works by ten choreographers, including six world premieres. The new repertoire will include works by Kyle Abraham, Gianna Reisen, Justin Peck, Alysa Pires, Christopher Wheeldon, and others. The dancers’ performances will mark the end of a remarkable career.
The next season of the New York City Ballet (NYCB) is already set to be the most exciting in recent memory. The ballet will feature a commissioned work by Peck and a new piece by Caroline Shaw, a composer and member of the vocal ensemble Roomful of Teeth. The ballet will feature set design by Eva LeWitt, the daughter of Sol LeWitt. In the original, Shaw incorporated Native American art into her work, which is set to a score by Wayne Shorter.

Chinese New Year parade
In February 2022, China will celebrate the Year of the Tiger in the Big Apple with a parade. Earlier in the year, the Staten Island Chinese Cultural Center held a free lion dance performance in Bryant Park. This year, the Museum of Chinese in America will host virtual festivities from February 4 to February 11. On February 5, the Brooklyn Children’s Museum will hold a Lunar New Year celebration with storytelling and an interactive cartooning workshop.

Chinese employees will have a week off from work, and festivities will continue in Chinatown and the Bowery. Observation deck
