The LSU Rural Life Museum is a 320-acre outdoor museum that portrays the way of life in nineteenth-century Louisiana. Children and adults alike will enjoy the museum’s expansive grounds and fascinating artifacts.
LSU’s rural life museum is located just 10 miles from downtown Baton Rouge. Located in an old plantation, the museum’s exhibits feature 19th-century buildings such as the schoolhouse and a blacksmith shop. The museum also has a World War II naval destroyer, the USS Kidd, which is now a World War II veterans’ museum with authentic artifacts.
