There are also more than a dozen hiking trails to choose from. These range in length from easy to moderate. They all include handrails and steps. If you want to get a little closer to the action, the infamous cable car takes you eight hundred feet to the top.
While you’re at it, don’t miss the ride on the Ride the Ducks. It’s a 40-minute ride that begins on the ground, and then takes you to the other side of Stone Mountain Lake.
If you’re lucky enough to visit the park during the winter, you might get a chance to ride the polar bear, or at least a real one. During this season, the ice rink is safe for the little ones to play on.
Escape from Alcatraz
Escape from Alcatraz, a movie starring Clint Eastwood, is coming to Atlanta this weekend. This prison break film takes place on the notorious island off San Francisco. It’s a thrilling storyline that appeals to all age groups.
The film was filmed on Alcatraz Island for three and a half months. Despite the fact that the location was a popular tourist destination, the filmmakers did their best to preserve the markings of the island.
The film follows three inmates who escape from the maximum-security prison on Alcatraz Island. They set out on a makeshift dinghy made of raincoats. Once they’ve gotten away, they must follow clues left by Frank Morris to get to safety.
According to the FBI, at least 36 inmates attempted to escape from the prison in the years 1934-1963. Most of the prisoners were unable to survive the attempt. Some of the victims were shot and killed, while others drowned.
Several people have claimed to have seen the escapees. One officer of the San Francisco police department even said that he had seen the prisoners. But the bodies were never found.
In January 2018, the details of the 1962 escape were finally understood. Former U.S. Marshal Michael Dyke suggested that the prisoners could have escaped from the island.
Two of the men who were involved in the escape plan were executed. The other two were killed. Their escape plan consisted of homemade drills that enlarged vent holes. Also, they used a small concertina to make a makeshift bellows.
Legoland Discovery Center
LEGOLAND Discovery Center is one of Atlanta’s top family attractions. This Lego themed indoor playground offers a variety of exciting, interactive activities for kids ages 3 and up.
It’s located in Buckhead, near the AMC Theatre and Belk. You can purchase tickets online or at the park’s entrance. They also offer discounted ticket options for families with older children. The ticket includes free parking and valet service.
LEGOLAND Discovery Center is open seven days a week. However, it’s a busy attraction, so plan to spend at least two hours here.
Legoland Discovery Center Atlanta features two private party rooms, a Master Builder Academy, and an exclusive NINJAGO laser maze. There are also ten LEGO build and play areas.
LEGOLAND Discovery Center also hosts events such as Noon Year’s Eve Celebration balloon drop, Brick or Treat festivities in October, and Breakfast with Santa in December. To attend these festive events, you’ll need to buy a ticket in advance.
In addition to LEGO build and play, LEGOLAND Discovery Center Atlanta features several rides and interactive attractions. They also offer model building classes. These classes are a good way for your kids to learn how to build with LEGO bricks.

Best time to visit Atlanta
I visited in February when it was a little cold. Although it has been a great holiday I wouldn’t recommend it as a way that it was a good day for Atlanta – the temperatures are chilly and the city is dull. I would recommend traveling to Atlanta during Spring (April – May) if it’s a good time to visit in the fall or spring. It’s ideal to travel to Atlanta for its weather and affordability. Fall is in Atlanta, and outside cities and mountains produce incredible colors. Atlanta can get quite hot and dry in Summer, but avoid this in mid-Season at any cost.
