In the Old San Juan area, two main Forts exist: the Castilo San Felipe del Morro often called Fort El Murro or Castillo San Cristobal. Until recently, Old San Juan Forts did little to prevent invasion but rather welcomed visitors. But in the past the island was an essential strategic base during the sixteenth and early 18th centuries when Spain battled the Spanish for colonial authority. Each Fort has a national park management agency. These fort sites are about a mile long and are large so make time to explore them. Both have huge green space where young adults can roam freely.

Popular among (inland) US Families, Puerto Rico is not known among Europeans. Nevertheless, we traveled independently from Britain by Norwegian flight. Even though there was a large number of passengers (which we had during the peak season), we found peaceful places and many relaxing spots to rest. So much of Old San Juan’s paved streetscape is vibrant and strewn with cobblestone. As we traveled with two-year-olds, and one-year-olds, we made things simple. Long seating in play spaces. How to explore the streets of Old San Juan with toddlers and babies?
When you go to Puerto with kids under the age of 3, the kids don’t want to wander on the streets much longer than the houses. The stroller we rented was ok but not perfect on the cobbles. We had a double stroller. We put a baby carrier in a stroller for the baby to go to the museum entrance and to the fort. The trolleys are accessible via hop-on hop-offs.
Have a ziplining adventure
Puerto Rico offers plenty of adventure activities on a zip line. The Campo Rico zipline is designed for tourists aged 8 to 65. It was a favorite experience for us on the island. Hacienda Campo Rico is close to San Juan (20 minutes drive), including seven ziplines, suspended bridges and a Puerto Rican restaurant at the final stop. Another zip-liner is Toro Verde Adventure Park, which houses monsters and beasts. The monster is over 2,000 meters long and will fly in your stomach up the trees. This is something kids will enjoy very much. Another company with more ziplining facilities is Rainforest Zipline Park.
