Atchafalaya Basin
The Atchafalaya Basin is a natural treasure in the south-central region of Louisiana. The basin is home to a huge variety of wildlife, including more than 65 species of reptiles and amphibians. The area was even declared a National Heritage Neighborhood, which adds to its uniqueness. Whether you want to spend the day kayaking, hiking, or just relaxing in a hammock, there’s plenty of fun activities to enjoy with your family.
For outdoor activities, visit Chicot State Park, Louisiana’s largest state park. The park is nestled in the heart of Prairie Cajun Country, a region that spans the Atchafalaya Basin swamps and central Louisiana. The park’s expanse and eight-mile Canoe Trail are sure to keep you entertained for hours. Atchafalaya Bayou is another popular destination.
LSU has a number of activities for kids to enjoy. The LSU campus is beautiful, and the nearby Lakes are great for a family outing. Don’t forget to pack a picnic lunch – and some snacks for the ducks! You can also visit the Barnhill Preserve, where you can take a private boat tour. You’ll also find plenty of opportunities for swimming lessons for the whole family.
Blue Bayou Water Park
Families looking for outdoor fun can visit Blue Bayou Water Park in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. This park features 16 water attractions, including two kiddie areas. It also features an amusement park called Dixie Landin’ with 27 rides and 10 games. The park also hosts live concerts and other events during the summer months. You can spend the day with the entire family or spend the afternoon taking in the show.
The Blue Bayou Water Park is located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, about an hour’s drive from New Orleans. It features over twenty thrilling water slides, including the behemoth bowl and High Water Slide. Other thrills include the mad moccasin and Ragin’ Cajun. You can also enjoy the Lazy River, a calmer alternative. The park is safe for kids to enjoy without the risk of drowning or causing a medical emergency.
While the Mad Moccasin doesn’t reach the heights of other water rides, it offers a unique thrill for those who are brave enough. Guests are invited to race through a serpentine slide in complete darkness. If you’re looking for a faster ride, try the Racers. These two water slides are the fastest in the world. It’s sure to please everyone in your family.
Dixie Landing
If your kids love roller coasters, they’ll love Dixie Landin’ and Blue Bayou Water Park. Both are located in Baton Rouge and include 27 attractions for a full day of fun. The water park includes a lazy river and several water slides, while the amusement park has roller coasters and more. A family day at Dixie Landin’ is sure to include plenty of rides for the entire family.
The park is a mid-sized family amusement park located right next to the Blue Bayou Waterpark. It covers 80 acres and features 26 rides and ten games. There’s also a snack cart with delicious snacks and drinks. Even the smallest kids will enjoy the rides and games! Things to do in Baton Rouge for family include Dixie Landin’, and a trip to Dixie Dilly is sure to please everyone.
There’s also a water park called Liberty Lagoon. Kids will love its slides and kiddie play areas. The lazy river and vortex pool are both popular attractions, as is the FlowRider, which lets you try surfing in the water. Kids will enjoy this water park in the summer and it’s a great way to spend the day with the family. And don’t forget to take your camera!
Perkins Road Community Park
For kids, Perkins Rd. Community Park is an excellent option, with bike and BMX tracks, rock climbing walls, and playground equipment. There’s even a skate park and BMX track. Parents will love the playground equipment, and kids will have a blast exploring the neighborhood. It’s also a great place to get exercise, too.
Parents and kids will enjoy exploring Perkins Road Community Park. There are plenty of things to do in Baton Rouge, from skateboarding to hiking. You’ll also find a climbing wall and BMX track at the park, and your kids can even play on the trails. For more educational fun, check out the Louisiana Art & Science Museum. There’s an exhibition about wildlife in the state, and you can learn about conservation and environmental science.
Whether you’re looking for an exciting water park, a beautiful beach, or a fun-filled day out, Baton Rouge has a lot to offer. Water slides and lazy rivers are popular, and the water park has plenty of activities for kids. The parks near downtown Baton Rouge offer a variety of activities. One of the parks, Blue Bayou Water Park, is located near the LSU Rural Life Museum.
Mrs. Heather’s Strawberry Farm
Whether you’re planning a day of strawberry picking or pumpkin carving, Mrs. Heather’s Farm in Albany, Louisiana is a great choice for your family’s next outing. It offers activities for all ages, from pumpkin painting to strawberry picking, and everything in between. And you can even plan a family fall festival and enjoy live music, too. Whether you’re looking for something fun to do in Baton Rouge, or you’d prefer a relaxing, peaceful retreat in the area, there’s something for everyone.
The LeBlanc Berry Farm is only open two days each month in March and April. It offers berry-picking activities, face painting, and a petting zoo. You can also enjoy a picnic lunch at the farm’s picnic area. The farm’s U-pick berries can be turned into jams, jellies, pies, and more. You can even use them to accent your favorite fruit cocktail. And if you’re looking for something sweet to snack on, you can just eat them raw.
Despite the small size of the farm, it’s easy to get lost on its 600 acres. The Hughes family earns half of their income through agritourism, and even rents out its hay barn for weddings and other special events. The farm’s hay barn is equipped with tables and chairs, so you can host your own family event. A visit to Mrs. Heather’s Strawberry Farm is also an ideal place to celebrate a family reunion.
Louisiana Art & Science Museum
If you’re looking for a great place to take your kids on a Baton Rouge family outing, the Louisiana Art & Science Museum should be at the top of your list. The museum is located in a historic train station in downtown Baton Rouge. You can’t miss it! Take a ride on the historic train to reach the museum, and don’t miss the Louisiana Art and Science Museum!
The museum is free, and the Old Governor’s Mansion is located inside. It was used as a Civil War post during the Battle of Baton Rouge. Today, it is a beloved historic building with a replica of the Liberty Bell. While you’re in town, check out the Enchanted Mansion Doll Museum. The museum displays antique and contemporary dolls and a life-size Victorian doll house.
Another great family activity in Baton Rouge is shopping at the State Library of Louisiana. The library has shelves of books and children can sit in the reading area or take a book home. There are also several public libraries in Baton Rouge that host events for kids. You can grab a bite to eat at Elsie’s Plate & Pie, a family-friendly restaurant that caters to children. You can find a delicious lunch, or treat everyone to a dessert at one of the several eateries in the city.
Blue Zoo
The Blue Zoo in Baton Rouge has plenty of fun for kids and adults alike. For hands-on family fun, you and your children can feed stingrays, birds, and reptiles. There are also sharks, sea horses, jellyfish, octopus, and clownfish, among other creatures. The interactive aquarium is also worth a visit for those who enjoy learning about the oceans.
The aquarium is set to open on April 1 and will employ 40-60 people. It will feature 38 exhibits, including a touch tank and an interactive exhibit featuring sea life. The company’s headquarters are in Washington, but it already has locations in Oklahoma and Louisiana. This Louisiana location was chosen because of its proximity to Baton Rouge. Visitors can expect a large aquarium surrounded by a variety of shopping options. It will be located in the first floor of the Mall of Louisiana.
The interactive aquarium at the Blue Zoo will offer an interactive experience for children and adults alike. The exhibits feature over 30 unique species, including sharks, jellyfish, stingrays, urchins, starfish, and reptiles. Families can even enjoy a dive show to learn more about the oceans. The aquarium also welcomes field trips. The Aquarium is free to enter, so don’t hesitate to visit.
