Law enforcement is continuing to provide security at the visitor center. An incident command post has been set up in the park maintenance area. Rick Brown’s Eastern incident management team is helping the park staff recover from the storm.
In the Mississippi district, several of the roads have been closed. There are also reports of trees falling. Depending on the damage assessments, operations may resume tomorrow.
The eastern side of the park is being hit hardest by hurricane Michael. Most of the park’s resources are affected.
